Jocassee Fireside Chats

Come join us for our new 2025 Jocassee Fireside Chat series highlighting the incredible Jocassee Gorges. Our first chat is February 21, 2025 at Jocassee Valley Brewing in Salem, SC at 5:30pm. We will be hosting Garrett Rhyne, Southeastern Motus Coordinator, American Bird Conservancy will share insights on the role of radio telemetry and how this tool is helping us educate, prioritize and conserve bird, bat and pollinator species.

Come for the talk and stay for the live music and food trucks! This new series helps us achieve our mission to conserve Jocassee Gorges and Educate our members and community. Everyone is invited.

Perk Up the Park Keowee Toxaway State Park

Help us conserve a beautiful part of the Jocassee Gorges at Keowee-Toxaway State Park. Our Annual Perk Up the Park event is February 22, 2025 from 10 am to 1pm in Sunset, SC. We will be doing various projects that include trail maintenance, enhancing campsites with lanterns, pruning the Carolina Fence Garden and picking up trash as an Adopt-A-Highway event. Everyone is invited and this is your chance to give back to the beauty of Jocassee! Snacks will be provided.

BellFest 2025

BellFest celebrates the blooming of the rare Oconee Bell flower (Shortia Galacifolia) with live music, guided hikes, vendors, kids activities, guest speakers, and silent auction to benefit FOJ.

Guest speaker: Dan Whitten, statewide president of the SC President of the Native Plant Society speaking on the history of the Oconee Bell & it's roll in the Jocassee Gorges

FOJ Annual Meeting

Our Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the Jocassee Santa event on Saturday, November 23rd. It is a time to thank our members for all your support while keeping you informed on our progress in the past year. At 2 PM, Guest Speaker Heyward Douglass will share his insights on Jocassee and the Foothills Trail. Join us as we recap our progress and explore our future endeavors. Santa will be onsite for pictures, and we will have crafts, hot cocoa, and goodies for the kids. We will have soup and dessert available, too. Bring a chair and a friend. :) See you there! RSVP HERE

Paddle Splash 2024

Part of the Southeast Paddle Sports Championship Series, Lake Jocassee Paddle Splash is a race for kayaks, surfskis, canoes, paddleboards, and other self-powered craft. Beginner paddlers are welcome! Racers are grouped by age and boat type to keep the racing fair. Awards ceremony at Jocassee Valley Brewing Co after the race.

V.I.P Day - Volunteer, Improve, Protect

V.I.P Day is our annual collaborative litter pickup at Devils Fork State Park involving divers, hikers, and boaters. Hundreds of volunteers turn out annually to to collect a significant amount of litter from Devils Fork State Park and Lake Jocassee.

Come to the Day Use/Picnic area of Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee between 9:00 - 10:00 AM to sign in, get assignments, and pick up supplies. FOJ will provide snacks, water, trash bags, and rubber gloves.

V.I.P Day - Volunteer, Improve, Protect

V.I.P Day is our annual collaborative litter pickup at Devils Fork State Park involving divers, hikers, and boaters. Second Saturday in September in conjunction with the SC DNR Beach/ River Sweep effort.

If you register via Sign Up Genius & participate, you will receive a one-day free park admission pass for the event day. FOJ will provide snacks, water, trash bags, and rubber gloves.

Come to the Day Use/Picnic area of Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee between 9:00 - 10:00 AM to sign in, get assignments, and pick up supplies. Look for FOJ EVENT signs! Tell the Fee station attendant you are registered & they will issue you a volunteer pass for your car window.
