SherriE & Dan Whitten

Outdoor Educational Scholarship

We’re privileged to rename this scholarship to honor the incredible Sherrie & Dan Whitten. FOJ Founding Members, Master Naturalists, and dedicated stewards of outdoor education and conservation.

If you love the Jocassee Gorges as much as we do and want to deepen your connection to nature while gaining valuable knowledge, this scholarship is your gateway. Stay tuned for application details and how YOU can become a part of this amazing legacy.

Let’s keep the spirit of exploration alive—because conserving the wild beauty of Jocassee is always more fun with friends!

FOJ will consider proposals from individuals and organizations that further its mission to preserve, promote and protect the Jocassee Gorges. The goal of the program is to increase awareness and understanding of the natural, historical, and cultural significance of the lake and surrounding area.

Projects must be completed in one year or less. Application deadline is April 1st.

After the project is complete, recipients are required to submit a written project report and give a brief presentation at one of our FOJ events or a poster summarizing project.
